Yes. Vision, outline, seam diagnosis, and editorial reasoning can guide a rewrite you perform entirely by hand.
What if the proposal is worse?
Keep the original, request a different approach, edit the intent, add a hold, or defer the decision. The finished chapter remains the baseline until another version earns its place.
